The Growth Dimensions: Physical Growth

“Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s” I Corinthians 6 v 19 & 20

The christian journey is a spiritual one, yet the body is a physical vessel that could undermine our ability to fulfill God’s purpose on earth.

The success of Christ’s ministry on earth depended on his spiritual maturity and connection to his heavenly father. Significantly, he also depended on having the physical fitness to walk great distances between cities and towns. His body also had to be in great condition to stand and speak to crowds for extended hours.

Christ’s own journey serves as a lesson for believers. Yes, we must focus on developing spiritually but it is important that the physical vessel remains in great condition.

What are some of the steps we can take to putting our bodies in great condition?

  1. Get as much sleep as you can but not too much. There’s a great article on how long each age group should sleep here:[https://www.sleepfoundation.org/press-release/national-sleep-foundation-recommends-new-sleep-times]

  2. Exercise vigorously but it’s important to know what forms of exercise is best for you. It is generally always better to start slowly measuring your performance and stretch gradually

  3. Eat healthy. When it comes to food, many often go for quantity over quality, this is often to the detriment of our health.

  4. Seek medical advice and avoid self treatment.
